Epilogue: The Path of Least Resistance

The bullet passed through and shattered my skull,
sending many severed fragments of bone and flesh
flying into the endless void of consciousness.
Blood flowed as freely as a fresh mountain spring,
filling in the crevices of my cranium where my brain once sat,
and as I moved my head from side to side
I could feel the shifting of its weight,
as the blood accumulated in its usual downward trajectory.
